This is my second year in fig growing and I have yet to try a fig( by my own failures) but I’m curious, what’s your favorite fig? Why? What makes this tree superior from the rest of your collection? I myself am pushing very hard to get to try angelito.

That’s a hard one to answer…

Mine changes every year. Usually, it is whatever one that season that tastes the best. Like this last year, I really liked Rio, Nero di Roca, and CM Unk.

Angelito is not my favorite though, it’s too similar to other Adriatics. It’s very close to WM #1 to me. Though that said, I do appreciate having it in my collection. We’ll see if next season brings any changes to it.

Angelito is on everyone's wish list. I have seen cheap prices for WM#1 cuttings.

Hi! My first 2 years were like that. Last year i got a small number of: golden riverside, and 1 of stella, lsu strawberry, and lsu hollier. Several others dropped fruit before i could taste them, now i have everything dialed in and am excited fof 2026. You will get there!

My fav so far is tied between stella and golden riverside, they were both so sweet!

I grew up eating something with my grandpa, a purple fig with five fingered leaves, im not sure what it was, but i believe it was black mission or celeste, and i enjoyed those as well.

Smith. I've had Smith figs hang on a tree for a lengthy time without spoilage and its like eating pure strawberry thick jam (all figs can get to that point). Even during a rainy summer season, the figs are still delicious.
Smith is one on my list to buy eventually so i can try it, is it a fast grower? For example my col de dame is soooo slow to grow

I don't think there's a favorite fig in my collection yet. If you have not eaten a fig yet then I will think you should beware the hype of a "premium" fig. Try them all and start off small. Some of the common lesser figs taste better than the premium figs to me. A fig tree's maturity, ripeness, fertilizer and the time of year ect. greatly impacts the flavor.

If you made me pick I would say Olympian, Chicago Hardy(Etna), Iranian Candy are amazing.
