Rarest figs?

The only way we have 99.9% of the figs we do is because people share. (Give, sell, trade) In my opinion it is counter intuitive to hoard a variety of fruit because you don't want someone else to have it. But I'm sure some people do. Luckily not many people do that, because there would be so little fruit in the world today if that were the case. Fruit was meant to be spread around. It makes for a better and healthier world
Many of the "hoarder" types give away there figs. But only to certain people. They give away to lovers not sellers. I have met some great fig hoarders. Good peeps. :)

The rarest fig is the “fig to rule all figs.” No one ever seems to get to it. Everyone wants it and looks for it continuously. As soon as you think you’ve gotten it, the “fig to rule all figs” isn’t the one you bought, but surely it must be that new seedling or newly discovered heirloom that came from overseas somewhere!!! 😉

Did I hear someone say Rionon Santana is rare?!

LOL - technically it is at the moment and in the possible near future Europe will have access to it (fellow member left the States and moved to a well known European country with a pair of RS sticks).

I would say Jesus fig, but the true Jesus fig aka the 'striped version" - maybe 2 people have it in the US from what I've gathered.

Also Milco caprifig - maybe a couple of people have it still but they're civilians (no real online or social media activity).

I was growing RS before it was cool!

@Kid Fig I am still waiting to see if my one cutting survives.😂🤣 Wish me luck

My 1 of 2 Ondata cuttings is showing some small growth as well but Pride goeth before a fall... Please wish me luck as well there.

Look what I have. Too bad you cant have it...lol

Best not to share with the world what you don't want others to have. He's setting himself up to have someone steal it.

This scenario also poses another question. Does he even have what he says he has? Strange that hes the only person in the world with such a unique trait.
Reminds me of the cherry bomb phenomena

I’ve a white baca grafted ( 2 trees). Very slow growing! My cutting I’m rooting is now 2 months out. These are not the freshest cuttings. I might say. Especially the cost !
1/2 of my grafts didn't do well, but the other half are doing great, but started out very slow. The cuttings coming from Marco earlier this year were of lower quality and vigor. BUT, white baca is a very good grower. Any cuttings coming from me this year and next will be high vigor cuttings. The leaves may have a few spots, but 0% deformity.

I’ve got ours direct but I’m hoping that the grafts take off.

Lloyd said Marco got cuttings from him. I’ve been able to black baca, honey crisp, watermelon, stage coach, hotel Alvarado, park and survivor all to root! The what’s baca I’ve got one trying to root, 2 grafted to two different trees ! The greokos (sp) started to root and shoot but stalled.
The rays 1880 and poncho are stubborn too.

Marco got cuttings from Lloyd, but it was years ago. Thats enough time to grow healthier trees than what is received. Maybe I was just unlucky with the cuttings I got from Lloyd.

I always try to graft in February or March as soon as trees wake up. That way the root stock wants to grow strong the whole season. If you graft mid season that can often slow down or set the rootstock back. Its a shock to have your head chopped off.
