Iranian candy

Oh my God that is such a beautiful Greenhouse, and it's 2,100 square feet? That's an amazing size. Do you mind if we beg you, and beg you, and beg you, for a greenhouse post for our Greenhouse section? BTW did you make a video while you were building it at all??

No doubt its my earliest fig in my collection. Im planning to put a few in ground this summer and see how will they do in 5b

Its better than Campaniere, Im keeping both of them and whichever one survives in ground will stay.

Only if giving my business to a trusted seller with a proven record, is considered asking for too much.
Maybe the world has changed.

I just got my first real taste last year…. The tree has taken some time to hit stride. Based on the ones I have tasted I’m hoping for more production this season…. Because it was very good! But yeah…. Slow grower

Some trees just take a long time to get there. U. Prosciutto for instance took
Maybe 5 years for me but now it’s one of my top figs.
Joe, can you elaborate on "U. Prosciutto for instance took Maybe 5 years for me"? 5 years to produce, to get good taste? I am asking because my UP ripened a couple dozen very good figs in its first year (rooted in December the year before) and nearly 185 figs last season in its second year. Overall, my 2 best-tasting fig last year, which it shared with WM#1.

I wish I could offer more of a reason for why it took so long to hit its stride. I recall early on I had a very cool summer with little sun. That was a set back. WM# 1 and Angelito both ripened for me first year.

The tree has still never produced anywhere near 185 figs for me. I’m still trying to figure out your secret 😬

I am taking a lesson from you and getting as much light as I can on the trees as early as possible this year. I can’t do the tent but I’m going to try to make some reflectors like on my hydroponic rig. I also plan to crank the heat up earlier than usual.

I see a lot of similarities between my WM#1 and UP, similar growth habits, similar tastes. The differences are very minor.

Light and heat will help a lot. Also starting them earlier so they have more time to grow and set more fruit.

Joe, do you give your Iranian Candy a headstart? What varieties do you grow in our climate without any headstart that can produce a decent harvest? I'd imagine this one would be one of them.

I would like to hear from @TorontoJoe Joe details on his in ground I-258.
When it break dormancy, figs form, ripens, and how much or many figs he harvest vs. How much stay on the tree by first frost.
