interesting, as you can see the other one on the other branch is also purple before even swellingMine rarely do this but when I see it, they almost always end up dropping prematurely. No clue why though, I’m guessing some kind
Of stress?
Interesting. They've been outside since the 3rd week of aprilStress. I was going to say "Most likely a water issue" But looking at it more. Lighting. Leaves look like they had to much artificial light.
Ischia blacm was setting some figs and then they turned purple way little. Is that normal? Haven't seen it before
i'd also recommend trying different NPK ratios. in ground fig trees are not going to need P and K as much as potted trees and in fact it can be harmful if you have too much. Everything in moderationI have 9 mature trees, all outdoors and in ground, 12 to 15 years old. I started seeing some of the fruit doing this 2 years ago when I began using a commercial 10-10-10 fertilizer. I cut back a bit last year, and I saw less of it. This year I cut back even more (less than half the amount recommended), and I still had a few figs turn a reddish brown and prematurely drop off. I don't like it, but my harvest has at least doubled since I started fertilizing. I think we just have to find the right balance.
