Why is this guy purple

I dont know if this helps any for figs but I know ph and light exposure can cause other plants to exhibit reddish colors where they are otherwise not normal. My blueberry plants did it a lot before I set up my irrigation in that bed and I know anthocyanin is a natural response to more light than my chili plants are ready for (which is determined usually by genetics)

Ischia blacm was setting some figs and then they turned purple way little. Is that normal? Haven't seen it before

I have 9 mature trees, all outdoors and in ground, 12 to 15 years old. I started seeing some of the fruit doing this 2 years ago when I began using a commercial 10-10-10 fertilizer. I cut back a bit last year, and I saw less of it. This year I cut back even more (less than half the amount recommended), and I still had a few figs turn a reddish brown and prematurely drop off. I don't like it, but my harvest has at least doubled since I started fertilizing. I think we just have to find the right balance.

i'd also recommend trying different NPK ratios. in ground fig trees are not going to need P and K as much as potted trees and in fact it can be harmful if you have too much. Everything in moderation
