Green Goblin

Green Goblin I picked up a couple of cuttings from @Padsfan, I am not currently sure what's happening with him. I wrote to him a few times, and then a few more on another platform. It seems like something is up. The name doesn't seem to recognize itself on this platform. He was really nice when I contacted him, and made the variety available to me. I currently have two Green Goblin in my home Orchard. I may try some air layers if the fig tree accommodates it.
 
You know when I first joined a forum back in 2020 the color black was all the rage. Members went to great lengths and high prices for Black Madeira kk, Black Celeste, Colonel Litmans Black Cross. Then Blue Celeste. Now Green is the “in” color. Green Goblin, Green Michurinska, Vince #3. Wonder what color will be next. Hey maybe that should be the next contest. 🤣😂

Some way, some how, I wound up with more green figs than any other color. I think I started getting those when people said the squirrels and birds didn’t see them as well. I’m questioning that now, but it’s too late. Trees are already producing, I’ll probably pull all of my fig trees away from the fence and next to the house in a month or so to keep the animals at bay. The dogs do a good job keeping everything 15 feet from the house.

I sense yellow/white will be the next “in” color.
 
I'm not to sure myself I bought mine when this thread started. The price has escalated since that time. I got mine fairly reasonable. @Padsfan has not been available of late. He's been super generous to FigFanatic members in the past, but I had the feeling he was not willing to sell at previous price levels. This is a variety that is gaining in popularity, and therefore price. I did try to pick up another couple of cuttings in the last month. Just wasn't able to do it

Big Bill (OTBP) has Green Goblin growing at his nursery and it pumps out figs big time, he likes it a lot and is impressed. If his perception has changed I'm not sure, I don't remember him selling it though?

It is a "newer" variety. So I am sure he will sell it in a year or two.
