And, to think i still have figs hanging here in Scarbrough in November. Weird......

I am pretty sure it has to do with the ambient temps. Our climate just doesn't have enough GDD to ripen figs by September, unless you head start really early.

Last year, if you recall, we had a bit of a cold spell right after Labor day with night temps dropping to 10C, so I put several of my premium figs in the garage grow tent to avoid temp shock. All figs there began to ripen at an accelerated rate. Like mushrooms after a rain. The temps inside the tent were crazy high, like 35-38C with the lights on. The garage was still warm inside so it was hard to bring the temps down without reducing the light intensity below optimal levels.

I should have thought of that. My BMKk was full of figs that were just shy of ripening. Good tip

I have to say, I did not like their quality. They were sort of too soft and a bit mushy. Almost overripe. Likely because of too much heat and humidity. If I were to go that route again, I'd try to find a way to give them plenty of light but keep the temps at 30-32C max and humidity at 50-60%.

38 is pretty hot, but I wonder if himidity played more of a factor in the mushiness. Did they at least get decently sweet?
