Google Street View Horticultural Finds

One day I want to go spend some time in Italy... when I am ready, we'll need to have a chat, Joe... :) you know all the best places...

No leaning towers, colloseum or gondalas down south... extremely rustic... unbelievable hospitality, lots of amazing, local food and warm weather.

If you know where to go... restaurants that are on homesteads that serve only plants they grow and animals they raise on site

That's exactly my type of vacation! :)

Gorgeous tree... I only wish street view got closer to it...

It caught my eye as we were waiting to board the ferry from Reggio to Messina. It's pretty big.

If you look around Tropea in Calabria and can get a good look at the main cliff.... there are a lot of amazing trees growing way out on ledges.... I hear some people are stupid enough to stretch themselves way out there to try and snap of a twig

Look around Pizzo just up the road from Tropea. Lots of wild figs and the birthplace of Tartufo. They take it very seriously. You order... sit down and they make it by hand while you wait with a coffee. Not a place to be in a hurry. :)

Joe: YOUR KILLING ME, YOUR KILLING ME.

Dream home... perfect climate... do gardening all year round pretty much... buy a boat, fish, enjoy fresh seafood... but the recent unprecedented drought in Sicily is worrisome.

It's definitely been dry there. At Rocca, luckily there's a cistern at the top of the hill and in recent years even the olive trees have needed extra water. Something that was never the case years ago.

The big reservoir there (Lago Rosamarina) has been very low in recent years

Super interesting structure around the first one. Stones on the pavement but the tree maybe in the ground? It's difficult to tell if that's the same property on the side or some sort of park. Need a better look

I've known the first tree (in Niagara Falls) for a few years. I pass by it a few times a year. It's an inground tree and it's on a private property. The structure around it is for winter protection. If you click 'see more dates' you can see what it looks like at different times of year.

Here is another one right across the street from it

Not a street view, but look at these potted fig rows! Lol 😂 Anyone else Google up their fig patch to see what it looks like from above? 🤣
