Beautiful things blooming

I had read that irises are supposed to deter critters and are toxic. I have a bunch near my Smith trees. Doesn't seem to bother the raccoons one bit.

Definitely not a deterrence. I’ve been chasing rabbits from attempting to nest in both iris beds. At least they don’t eat them like they do the miniature irises before they can flower.

I’ve also read all over the internet that marigolds work to deter rabbits - absolutely not true. I’ve planted almost 100 marigolds throughout the yard and almost all of them have been chewed up by rabbits. I’ve resorted to applying cayenne powder to the leaves over the last week and it’s keeping them at bay for now. I’ve also been pinching all flower buds so the plant can push more leaves and will be able to sustain rabbit damage once they’ve been accustomed to the cayenne powder.

I think its a random Canna Seedling it came in one of those little plant break off planters that usually go for 3 bucks or less and this is popped up in the pot ...

I was at the home improvement store yesterday and the others that look similar are Cannas so im pretty sure. Occasionally they will carry fancier ones .. I saw one yesterday with pink leaves but not fancy pink but more like smeared lipstick looking pink lol
Do you know what that is? The colours are so intense

That’s about how ours look this year too. I seen some earlier today as bright blue as my avatar.
I was reading the blue color is due to more acidic soil.
Odd because the root system must be feeding only certain parts of the plant if that is the case.
None the less, it is really cool looking.

Here’s another one about to open. Pretty cool shape before it opens. Something chewed a hole in one of the petals of the other flower. Kind of ticked me off. 😂😂

My big Plumeria almost all the way open. This is the absolute best smelling flower I’ve ever smelled.
So far between the Julia Childs rose tree and the Gardenias...the two best smelling flowers, I edge toward the Rose tree smelling better.

Oh no, these blow everything out the water. I wish everyone could grow them, but even in DFW I have to be super careful with them. They can’t take anything under like 55 degrees lol. It lives INSIDE my house during the winter. 😂😂😂 they get pretty pricy too.

I have enough that need babied, sheesh I don't need anymore. lol
Don't actually have any house plants, the way my house it situated, no windows with really good light where I would put plants.

There you go, finally opened up and didn’t get chewed up… Yet. The tree is about 4 feet tall. Has 1 main trunk that has 3 branches. Now that they’re flowering the tips will separate into more branches. It’s pretty wild to see happening.

They go dormant in the winter @ktrain. So it just hangs out in the garage for the most part, until it drops to really cold. Then I’ll bring it in until it warms up a little. This is one of my favorite plants lol.
