Good Deals

I saw a beautiful huge in ground fig tree in a front yard here in town. I thought about going back and knocking on the door to ask if I could get a few cuttings, but I don't think in Texas it's as likely to find a cool variety imported from Europe like it is back east. In Texas it's likely to be a Brown Turkey or Celeste or something. In the north east it could be anything. I think that guy in NJ had the right idea. Sounds like he found a good one with that Unk Prosciutto.

Pretty much all of the fig trees we have came from Europe, the middle east or north Africa in the first place. You never know....

One thing I do know... Fig people are generally, very nice. If you do knock and start a conversation, at worst you get to meet someone who likes figs and perhaps a new figgy friend... at best, maybe also a fig that's been in the family a while with a good story...

Hey.... maybe they're expats from NJ

I feel like I’m late to the thread and missed the deals😆😆 specifically bmkk. I can’t for the life of me get that one to root.
@Figsee I am afraid I've never gotten it to survive up potting. I usually get most of my cuttings to root, but that doesn't mean my survival rate is that good. I lose cuttings during up potting as well.

If nobody ever knocked on the door in Texas for a fig cutting I would have never seen and fell in love with my favorite movie. Texarkana Farm... God I love that movie.

I never heard of that movie. We have family in Texarkana. We go there quite often.

It would help if I could remember where that fig tree is at. I saw it a year ago and I wasn't really into figs then so I didn't make a mental note to it's location. I tried to use my google maps searching skills to find it. 😆 I only remember which side of the lake it is on.

We all that one white whale that we are unable to keep alive.

OTBP has recently added some more fig varieties for sale. Might not be as cheap as what you can find on figbid but atleast you know that you will be getting a quality product.

OTBP doesn’t shipped to CA at least last time I checked

Update that they can now ship to all lower 48
I just got my nursery updated to ship all 48, surprisingly California isn’t that hard to qualify. For me it was Japanese beetle treatment agreement with the state, have a nursery certificate, then just pre notify and have your certificate in the package. Won’t be able to until that goes through and I receive the updated license but it seems quite easy to satisfy requirements for all states once you dig into it. Initially it seemed overwhelming.

Their prices look pretty reasonable for the few I just looked at. Glad to hear you can get them in Cali now.

There is Mariani Carini Green (Adriatic) at figbid with a fixed price $49. Seems like a good deal considering there are small rooted cuttings for that price or more at other places online and these trees are 3 gal and 3rd year. There is a lot of information about it at the figbid page. The seller is Red Sun. Item# 64945305

Sounds like you’re the local fig finder lol. I just posted up some that were needing to be sold before they put grew my 30 inch boxes. I based prices off what I could find and sometimes the trees on figbid are just barely started. Half of my rooted cuttings are pushing main crop already, especially the mt etna types.

Yes they do ship to California now. They didn't last year, but this year I've already received six trees. By the way they were all of the highest quality. As always I'm very impressed by OTBP Nursery

Good morning, could you expand on this as I currently might be having a potential issue. Was it comms or shipping.. just wondering
I had some iffy looking cuttings, dried out pretty good. Still got half to root though. Trees on the other hand looked great. What were your issues?

There's only one problem with Figbid...so many nice growers/figs and so easy to buy with a nice interface but then you gotta pay for them!

;)

Your rooted cuttings look good and I like your prices better than most that I see for sale. When I am looking to make a purchase I will check out what you have for sale. The reason that I shared the info about the Mariani Carini Green is because it's something that stands out from others. It's an Adriatic and a 3 year old tree but only $7 more than your Green Ischia rooted cutting (buy now price with shipping).
