What other plants are you addicted to ? lol

Just watch a few youtube videos, get a box cutter and cut resistant gloves, and you are ready to go.

I'm not as skilled as they are... I'm not too proud to wear these... They wont stop a chainsaw blade... but so long are the days of nearly amputating your thumb because of a causal slip

Im just obsessed with plants. I have around 200 "house plants" lol. And am lucky enough to own a home so the property gets alot of love with plants and gardening but I'd have to say I'm pretty prideful when it comes to my tomatoes. This year I did German Pink Heirlooms and a funky cherry tomato called Black strawberry cherry tomatoes.

I am focusing on plants that produce food. I started a small orchard last year. This year, I planted some cactus for prickly pear production and a few no-name dragon fruit. I also started a few tomatoes and chili peppers, but they are not doing well. I am planning to plant berries and passion fruit next year.

Speaking of losing body parts. I do know a fellow figger lose a thumb while working a trimmer, who wasn't wearing gloves at the time. That almost happened to me once, which I thought was impossible because the trimmer blades were far from the hands. I happened to wear thick cowhide gloves that day and the gloves stopped the trimmer. I was holding the bush with one hand while trimming because the bush kept bending without hand support.

As for grafting, the gloves save me from cuts quite a few times. Sometimes, the cuts were avoidable and sometimes, they weren't. e.g. Some wood has variable density so it can be difficult to cut through one section and then all of a sudden, the blade goes super quick to your hand. With proper protection, you can minimize the damage to yourself.

Besides figs I’ve been getting into espalier apples (Golden Delicious cross pollinated with Honey Crisp) because of limited space and Prime Ark Freedom Blackberries with their twice a year huge berry harvest. They are practically made for the South, and thornless to boot.

Just entering cherimoya harvest season. At risk of being sacriligous on this forum, cherimoyas are probably our favorite fruit. Bananas, dragon fruit, Loquat, & avocado are also amongst our favorites. Anxiously waiting for lychee and mango to grow enough to start fruiting.

Citrus trees grown in pots. I used to have 27, now 17. They got too big for the space I use for overwintering so I had to cull a few.

My mom loves Golden Delicious apples. I’ve ordered and pick up 4 trees this coming Saturday. Summer banana, Grimes golden, Pink lady and Blacktwig (mammoth). They didn’t have Golden Delicious but Grimes Golden is the parent of Golden Delicious. I will be planting them next week sometime hopefully with the help of my family to make the memories.

Don’t have any blackberries yet but seems everyone likes the Prime Ark Freedom Blackberries.
