Squirrel Problem

I can't remember where I read it but chicken manure even pelletized is a good repellent. I have used it this year and they have stopped digging right away.
Had a similar experience, but it gets washed away by the rain so I had to re-apply pretty soon. Can get pretty expensive.

I use a catch alive trap which has been modified so a squirrel cannot lift the petal, only press on it. I have a small bolt with fender washers on both sides of the nut. I place the bolt where it protrudes inside right over the trip pedal when set with a hair trigger. Once the bolt position is well adjusted setting with a hair trigger each time is easy as I only lift the pedal till it contacts the bolt.

I only use high quality bird seed for bait and set the traps on a piece of plywood so the bird seed remains behind the petal. It's a very easy set up to catch them. I drive them across a nearby river to release.

To release them I use a Body Panel Puller T-Handle. It looks like this

I hook the bottom of the door to lift it up releasing the squirrel. Now I don't have this for Squirrels but really angry Raccoons. Keeps my hand clear of the door on the release.
