Maybe .5-.75 of an inch![]()
I think it should be enough but next time, donāt be afraid to sink that sucker almost completely under if planting vertical. Your bud will breach the surface.

Are yall cutting each side of the nodes all the was to the next ones?
As to leave as much wood as possible.
Or are you cutting each side close to the node?
that looks really good, healthy roots.. where did you get the pruning cells? they look deep, the ones in Amazon are shallowView attachment 18460
Plant cell fig pops doing well. Clear roots coming out of the air pruning cells. I forgot to mention There is some Osmocote Plus in there as well. Other than the perforation of plastic to let the shoots come out, I want it to be as hands off as possible.
When do you apply the osmocote?View attachment 18460

Nice, that's what I was getting at...using as much wood on both sides for maximum stored energy.View attachment 18460

All my trays, cells, etc are from Bootstrap Farmer. They last years and years. TrueLeaf Market also sells BF stuff which helps if you are also ordering seeds and other stuff from them.that looks really good, healthy roots.. where did you get the pruning cells? they look deep, the ones in Amazon are shallow
I just chucked some in the bottom 1/4-1/3 of the cells while I was filling with them. I did the same with some fig pops as an experiment vs the hydrating everything with 1/4 strength 20-20-20. I used Osmocote Plus for the micronutrients. When do you apply the osmocote?
Do you sprinkle it on the surface at the time of planting?
This is cool. Now I want to try a load of nodes in one of those 72 cel seedling trays![]()
I have a couple deep 72ās and thought about it, but the thickness of the cutting will limit to skinny boys and tip cuttings only. Otherwise you wonāt be able to get enough medium around them.

Think a 50 would be big enough?

I donāt think this one is deep enough
Are you also using a heat mat?Was trying to think of a way to mimic a fig pop or tree pop for single nodes. because I hate fungus gnats and I hate watering. Each cell is 2.4āx2.4āx4ā. So far so good.
