Schar Israel - good and unique 👍

This Schar Israel continues to impress me. These figs near the top (white arrows) were pea size figlets when I brought this tree indoors a couple weeks ago. The question is will the figs ripen indoors and taste good. I have two other fig trees under the lights that have figs on them. Strawberry Verte and VdS. SV is not pushing out any green growth. VdS is but nothing like Schar Israel.

Hopefully it gets passed around a bit more and we can get more opinions on it. Personally I just want to watch them color as they grow. Tasting good would just be a bonus.

oo, my cousin went to israel and tried a fresh fig. she said it was reddish purple on the outside and amber colored inside. What are the chances this is the one? Or at least in the same category. Maybe i'll give her this since shes on the hunt for a tree. Unfortunately not a fig person so the most I got out of her was it was "sweet" lol so maybe a sugar fig? she said she didnt think it was veryfruity

I want to go on a lesser known varieties hunt, Lol. You know of any other really good ones? Or some that are extremely underrated?

The ones that come to mind are Jacksonville Yellow, Igo Unknown, Fort Mill Dark, Sequoia, Fico Pera D. Shovgan, Atlantia Hierloom Unknown, Christmas Fig Unknown, Neofort Unknown, Jardin Tejer Unknown.

There are a couple of others but they are varities found by Francesco Lorusso so somewhat known?

Wow, I didn’t know that the syconium could be red, too! That velvet plum skin is very beautiful.

I have a few varieties where the flesh color blends into the syconium because of this factor lol.

That looks amazing! Was it sweet? If so, I might need to get it.

It was sweet as say a Mt Etna and its still somewhat young/small so I'm assuming it can get sweeter.

Would you know if the one she tried was wild or was it distributed by a local vendor?

She's young but I will be transplanting her from a 2 gallon to a 5 gallon in a couple of weeks so next year I should have wood to spare.

Ah - maybe they can provide you with a few fig leaf pics (when in season) and we can compare photos.

I imagine if related they will have similarities in the leaf pattern as well.
