Schar Israel - good and unique 👍

Second time trying Schar Israel and not only is it good but quite unique!

It was soft, sweet and the jam was a little sticky but had a strong Plum flavor to it as well as having some tang, which again reminded me of a Plum (skin).

Definitely passed the cull test and going onto the Maturity Trial - so far I think it will pass that test too

I like it!

HA - it does look like Pastilliere.

Never heard of Brolio - is that a fig variety?

I got this one when going on my "lesser" known varieties hunt and there is another Schar fig (3 total iirc) I've been looking for - Schar Italian.

Really nice colours. I also really like sticky figs. Probably my favourite thing about Smith. I may need to get my hands on this one

Heeeeey! How's things Joe!

Sticky figs definitely = $$$ lol.

I noticed it has a cavity and suspect a caprified one would be OOOZING sweet stickiness!

Well Joe, you being a well known level 20 Wizard in D&D cannot be caught without his magic wands so as your apprentice I I must arm you accordingly...

@ETXfigs

Just seen your post about anyone having tried Schar Israel and thought I'd give you a heads up 👍
Thanks. Those look great! Here is pics of my Schar Israel figs. They have not swelled yet but I have moved it indoors and it is pushing out new green growth and still forming figlets. I think these figs are going to be big. This is another 1st year tree that was a cutting I got from the forum cutting program earlier this year.

It has two trunks that were growing horizontal in opposite directions. I've got them pulled up into a more upright position but I am going to turn it into two trees before spring.

Giuseppe loves his sweet stickiness! 😃

WillsC said this about Schar Israel,
"Schar Israel was quite good......it was in the top 5 of the new varieties (maybe 100) I put in this year. Growth rate was excellent and very productive"

That"s ggreat to hear!

I'm only 4 years into the fig game and sometimes wonder if my reviews are on par with more experienced growers - I'd hate to over hype a fig due to being a novice.

Wow those babies are prolific! I didn't revitalize (fertilize) the soil this year so mine was working off scraps lol.

I think that quote is from 2017. I found it because I was looking for any info on Schar Israel. Not a lot of people growing it. I'm glad to see someone else is growing it and those figs look awesome!
