PrimeArk Freedom Blackberry Cuttings Free-ish

Same here. One died by turning brown from top down. I performed post-mortem: there were no roots, but not rot either...just the same brown streak from the top down that extinguished the cutting.

I read that Blackberries are easier and faster to root from cuttings than figs. So far, this has not been the case.

I have a couple that show green growth, apart from the buds/glowers (which I remove). Still no roots in sight.

The learning continues... :)
I have blackberries and last year when new canes started I dug some up with roots. I put in pots and most survived. Took them to farmers market but I don't think I sold any.

Hmm…that’s what I thought, but I’m pinching off a ridiculous number of flowers…maybe I will do half and half.
If you have extras, that is a good time to experiment. We only learn something new when someone is willing to take a risk doing something different.

The blackberries cuttings(27) I had were pretty active green cuttings. Most of them(20) rooted right away but only a small portion (8) was able to push top growth. In the end, I got only 2 fully grown plants. Compared to tip layering, which is 100%. That odds seem to be low.

I could probably improve the odds if I weren't busy. But having many that seemed to be rooting led me count the chicken too early. I was worried about ending up with too many at first and then not having to worry about that in the end.
