Let’s stir the pot again!!

What’s your most HATED fig and why?

Me- I guess I don’t really have one… Yet.

Not sure I hate any fig. But my nemesis is Jolly Tiger.
It either roots and dies. Or roots, grows and is not variegated.
I have a love hate relationship with that one. :)

Hate is a strong word. But with that being said there were some figs after tasting it, I said to myself, this one’s got to go.

Honey Plum

Have a few. Lost a few. Beautiful figs. Some tasty some ok.
But so far they do not like the south. Seems they all split here.
Still love the looks of them tho. :)
Yea see that’s the thing with me. I haven’t had many figs except Celeste. So it’s hard for me to choose them. I kind of go based off of things that have been around a while and always have good things people say about them. Play it safe I guess you could say.

My least liked fig is my mom's Southern Brown Turkey. It is killed to the ground most years. The figs are late to set, they are small, and they are just a plain ol' sugar fig. Nothing to really write home about. Booo

So far Watermelon - it was foul and I'd rather eat a somewhat spoiled but ripe fig than the one (🍉) I tried.

Gonna give it untill the Fall of 2026 to see if I just got the worst sample possible (ever).

Hmmmm. It was foul almost made me spit my water out. Lmaoooo.

I’ve always kind of been interested in the banana fig I read about some where. lol you may have just killed that.

I’ve been meaning to try and find one of those, but I never can. Maybe that’s a good thing. Most people’s “brown turkeys” are actually Celeste around me.

I'm not sure if Banana fig is the same as New Orleans Banana but if they are I might be able to report on it come this Fall.

It's possible that Watermelon fig needs the wasp since it's a Cali seedling and the only samples from it were possibly always caprified (I assume).

Right now, my 1st black mission, it hasn't grown in 2 years and has received allot of attention. I just dug out the surrounding area and added new fertilized soil and mulched it, added more irrigation...

Thrive or die black mission!!!! THRIVE OR DIE!!!

if it doesn't do something by December it's getting trashed.
