I was at one of my favourite little markets in the east end called Colangelo Brothers … I noticed these and I’ve really been hurting for some fresh figs. I haven’t tried them yet… What would you think they are? Apparently from Brazil.

They’re pretty soft, but I don’t have very high hopes. I’ll cut a few open when I get home.

All these farms know better though. It's not a product that can be shipped, it's a local market fruit.

I stopped buying figs from stores. They are just not good, it’s always picked too early. It’s a money grab.

Vito - if you’re in the east end though. Check out Colangelo Brothers on Midland Ave. Lots of good imports… but yeah… you’d be more likely to find good figs in the owners backyard.

We have never had a store bought fig worth eating ( except some decent dried ones) It may be why you run into so many people that don’t like figs, they have never had a real one before.

If I’m in the city I will check it out thanks Joe. It better be good “se no ta mazzo lol!” everytime I see those figs in stores I always end up buying them and they just never not once has tasted better then my garden figs. So that’s why I stoped wasting my money.

My Italian friend and I went out shopping just before Christmas and each got a box of these Brazilian figs. Later, I said to him - those figs didn't taste that great... that was my version of trying to say something positive and not offensive in case he liked them. He laughed and said - they tasted like sh*t.
