How did your winter rooting go this year? Show us pics!!!

Overall I had much better success this year using a drier mix and only letting them sit on a heat pad for the first two weeks to stimulate callous formation. These were just moved outside yesterday to acclimate to wind and warmer temperatures in full shade before going to 50% shade in a week. I also topdress them with Nutricote 18-6-8 once they are outside to promote fast growth.

Look amazing! We are always tweaking our formula for better success each time!

Pretty good results here this year. Grow tent - I kept temperatures in the mid to upper 70s. 80-85% success rate. Used clear cups filled with peat moss and perlite with a touch of potting mix, pre-moistened with Gnatrol. Then topped with more perlite. The first dozen+ have been successfully uppotted. Some slower growers are still in the tent but should be promoted to outdoors soon.

My rooting season is going very well. Though I wasn't planning on adding varieties, I love rooting cuttings and so I started 43 so far (mostly to giveaway--I swear!).

The larger cuttings were started Jan 19th-21stIMG_4468.jpg
and the smaller ones were started March 10-11.

These are the ones that made it, minus that dead Irene's black greek and Campaniere. I was still holding out hope when I took this picture, but they both rotted. I started them in fig pops and initially had great success. After up potting and probably watering them a bit too much I lost a lot. I am confident in learning from my mistakes and and going to start a few more directly into the 4x9 tree pots using promix HP and bagging up the pot. I'm only keeping 5 of these the rest will be given away to friends and family. 20250410_201922.jpg

And at 8 weeks............ I do believe this is my first official 100% success season with rooting cuttings. Might be a little too early to say for sure, but it appears Borda Barraquer decided to pull through for me.

I am at about 8 weeks for BB as well, and the progress has been very similar... slow...

Compared to some other varieties I started about the same time, like these CDDs

The graft took as well... though the first leaf looks a bit malnourished... I removed the rubber band and buddy tape and re-wrapped with Temflex splicing tape.

Nice! I still say some cuttings are very slow rooters..... BB being one of them. I'm sure we got them from different sources and aren't using the exact same rooting methods. Hoping yours takes off shortly. Haven't messed with grafting yet. Probably will though when I want to start trying hand pollination.

Got mine from Harvey. My rooting method is dead simple - stick it in a tree pot full of organic potting soil and water lightly every 2-3 days. :)

Overnight temps are getting close to consistent 50F or greater. Starting to feel like a jungle in here! Need to get them outside to start hardening off. 9 for 9 still, nothing has died. Borda B is still chugging along super slowly.
