I lived in Killeen before moving out here. Killeen is probably like San Marcos as far as humidity. When it's hot and humid here, I start sweating immediately when I go outside. I have worked in glass plants (in California) and left metal tools out and the next day they were melted. I also worked on hot Abrams tank engines in Iraq. I have to say, I would much rather have a dry heat than this humidity.I lived in Texas for 7 years, Houston and San Marcos.
Houston has been the hottest most humid place I’ve ever lived. There were days I’d go outside and every pore in my body would open up at the same time, it was unbearable. Never got use to the hottest most humid days.
The wife wants to retire somewhere warm, I’m like are you sure about that? She hasn’t been able to handle a warm climate yet, not one.
It's all relative I suppose. Dallas felt a lot less humid than Houston or Galveston, both being close to the Gulf. When I travelled from Dallas to Florida or Georgia, I immediately felt the humidity. Yes, late summer and fall were drier than late spring/early summer. Also, my friends back in Texas think that the weather in Dallas got more humid lately.I'm about an hour south east of Dallas. The humidity here is horrible, but I grew up in California and spent some time in the middle east so I'm not really used to this kind of heat. I have noticed we get most of our rain here in spring and early summer. Late summer and fall is dry. Did you have less rain in DFW in late summer and fall?
I believe you’re absolutely correct. I’ve only experienced humidity, high humidity with heat and it’s not pleasant. Hard for people with respiratory problems. You can really sweat bad because your skin can’t breathe so you are soaked in 30 minutes if you do any work outside, at least you know your losing fluid, but dry heat, you have no idea how much so think your ok when you’re not. That’s scary. There’s a big difference between hot and humid vs hot and dry
I didn’t believe it till I experienced both
But hot and dry can be dangerous cause one doesn’t realize they’re sweating, the sweat is evaporating that quick
