Helicopter parenting?

I feel like we should have a support group for those who love their fig children to death. Hi I'm Beth and I over-waterer. It took me a long time to realize my sponsor Toronto Joe was right and I was drowning my babies but instead of yelling at me in Italian he helped me realize the importance of provolone and a good salami and now when I feel the urge to water I make a sandwich. It's been three days since I killed one.
Seriously though. I am definitely a helicopter figmama.😂

I feel ya - it’s so hard for me to resist watering them!!! Figs are so different than other plants I have grown, it goes against what I have always done on so many things. Definitely a learning curve for me, lol.

If I have a fig tree that's slacking in production, I like to yell at it in Italian. Works great, but the neighbours look at me funny then go into their houses and lock their doors... 🤌
Threatening to assault them with a broom seems to work as well. Idk any Italian or I’d give your method a try as well

I used to helicopter(recently), but as of late life has been too hectic and I’ve been too busy. Aside from new roots showing up they don’t seem to care. I don’t think they love me like I love them 😭

Go figure, I ignored them a couple days and 2 stubborn cuttings popped roots. The white triana I mentioned in another post and just seen the much anticipated Raspberry latte

I'm now forcing myself to look at cups every OTHER day instead of EVERY day now. Usually. ;)
I find this phenomenon interesting, and I’m guilty of it as well.

Week 1 - check everyday or multiple times a day if able
Week 2 - same as week 1
Week 3 - check every other day
Week 4 - check if you’re in the same room
Week 5 - “I’m sure they’re fine”
Week 6 - did I check them?
Week 7 - see week 1

One would think that no progress would be made in the first few weeks, but we (at least I) provide more attention early on.
