Helicopter parenting?

I’m in the helicopter fig parent camp, lol. But all jokes aside, I think handling the fig pops is fine. I literally pull them in and out of the prop bins almost daily, and not gently, and then smush and wiggle them back into the bin, all the time. And mine are literally fine. I can’t think of even one example where my nearly daily man handling of the fig pops has ever had a negative effect on the roots, so don’t worry about that. Just enjoy them!

I also like to view my fig pops when rooting but when you said “man handling” instantly made me think of this Seinfeld episode 😂🤣

Lol, I remember that episode!
Nope, I’m not a big person and I have normal size hands, lol. 😝

I’m just not gentle with my fig pops and wanted to share that, so people don’t over worry about breaking roots when looking their fig pops.

I did, however, see an exception on a FB fig group yesterday that is worth mentioning. Not to pick on this person, but it’s worth mentioning for new fig poppers. This person barely filled the fig pop bag, so it’s kinda slumpy. Any roots growing in there would be easily broken off when that bag is moved.

@MyFigStix got me thinking... If my cuttings could use a phone, they'd probably be calling child services. I set them up... then they're mostly on their own... maybe, I'm just lazy... I call it tough love

Holy cow!! Just seeing this! @TorontoJoe thank you for sharing. But we are here for you. The first step is always admitting you have a problem. We are all family here. You can tell us the truth. You really hover over you cuttings. We are all here to help you!! Lol!!!😂🤣

Lol!! Well I can give you several examples of me hurting, setting back, or killing a cutting. 😂🤣 I’m like that bull in the china closet!! Lol!!

Haha My favorite/least favorite part of working from home is knowing that the figs are just sitting there on top of my fridge, waiting for me to check in on them
Lol!!! I would just set my office up with my cuttings all around me!! That way if they needed me I would be right there!!

I remember when I was a kid in elementary school. I did a science experiment where I had 2 small flowers. I ignored one and talked to and played music for the other. The one payed attention to grew bigger. I choose to believe having us close by makes them happy. Just don't overdo it 🍀

If I have a fig tree that's slacking in production, I like to yell at it in Italian. Works great, but the neighbours look at me funny then go into their houses and lock their doors... 🤌
