You wouldn’t really HAVE to own it lol. Could be your parents or something idk. I’m pretty partial to my dad’s Celeste too. Huge tree with way too many figs lol.I guess you would have to own it for it to be your favorite.
Right now my favorite female is still my old Celeste because of production and has never let me down.
Many better tasting figs. But taste and productivity are two different things.
Favorite males right now are UCD and FPTC but it would br different if in wasp land.![]()
Can't argue with that.Usually..... the one that's properly ripe, and currently in my mouth!![]()

I am becoming a fig snob. I grew several varieties that I couldn't care less about even when perfectly ripened.

Nero di Rocca - Air Layer
Fantastic variety from the Italy. It is a common variety and ripens superb figs that are very dense and thick and sweet with a moderate berry flavor. This is still very rare and it is one that deserves to be spread around. This is an air layerfrom last fall that is ready to be up potted. Due to...figbid.com

The problem since 2022 is that so many people are asking for it that I haven't let it grow properly. Last year it ripened a good few weeks later... but the tree has been abused.... It needs a rest. She is a beauty! Did a quick search on the other forum... You were saying it ripens for you about the same as Smith? Is it still valid or has it changed since 2022?
I hear you. Though in the grand schema of things, earliness doesn't matter much to us here, at least not to me, as we still need to give all/most of our figs a good headstart. And so it all boils down to how well it ripens in our climatic conditions, how good it tastes, and how productive it is.The problem since 2022 is that so many people are asking for it that I haven't let it grow properly.
