The snow stopped here. Less than a 1/2 in. A lot of snow fell but it reached 37*. Just too warm to build up. Supposed to drop to 27* tonight, now it’ll probably turn to ice.

Just walked back outside and closed up my fig hut. It’s gotten cold and very windy! Brrr. Hopefully after this cold passes I can open it back up for the last time. I’m ready to start springtime.

I had to add more milk jugs to a bunch of trunks/branches this morning as the rabbits took advantage of the overnight snow and access to the higher wood.

The overnight snow allowed the rabbits to chew on branches and trunks above the hardware cloth I initially placed around several trees.

I save milk jugs for various uses throughout the season and just split them in half and placed them around trunks/branches to increase the height so the rabbits can’t further chew and girdle the trees.

yeah i need to go out and add more rabbit protection around my trees too milk jugs is a good idea! I just use tree tubes i have

. I lived in Florida for 16 years, it was the same there only the bugs were bigger.

Here in the Northeast, it's the ticks that you have to watch out for. Make no mistake about it, we have spots here where you'll be covered in them in a short time, and one bite is all it takes to change your life and not for the better!

Back to the storm, 18 inches here in Central NJ. Bleh.

my wife taking her shift shoveling. shes 5 foot 9 and its over her knees lol. drifts as tall as her too from the plow

Based on NWS reporting we got somewhere in the 16-20” range - that seems about right as I can barely feel my shoulder from shoveling.
