BIG SNOW coming this weekend

the drifts here are like 3+ feet rn. wind is crazy. curious to see how this shakes out

It’s so insane! I grew up in North Dakota, where -40 degrees was a regular, expected thing. But here in Pennsylvania, this is crazy pants.

I’m more worried about losing power!

Losing power is our concern. That and falling trees/limbs. All of this ice is natures way of pruning.

We only got about 3-4 inches of snow last night then the sleet and freezing rain started at 3:30am and that is still coming down pretty good as I type this. Where my husband and son shoveled is all filled in again.

Got well over 12" and still showing here. Greenhouse 1 with heater has 150+/- trees, and greenhouse 2 has 50 or so with no heat, hope they make it.

Rains are coming down pretty hard...be here for a few hours then 18 degrees tonight.
No work tomorrow as I work right outside Atlants...they got some ice.

It’s done here, the sun is starting to break through the clouds now. We got mostly ice on top of 4 inches of snow. Cold, 26*. How much rain fell at your place?

I think we ended up better than predicted here. Hopefully I can chip out my truck from the sleet/ice we have today. They actually might expect me to go to work tomorrow

Don’t chip away the ice. Use a blow dryer around the doors openings, key holes.

We got a few inches of snow, but mainly sleet and freezing rain. East Tennessee. The cold this week worries me more than anything.

It’s done here, the sun is starting to break through the clouds now. We got mostly ice on top of 4 inches of snow. Cold, 26*. How much rain fell at your place?

Not sure how much rain, it stormed for about 3 hrs.
Temps this morning was 21...so no work today.

So the 12 figs I am most worried about, in the larger pots. We had put two layers of hay around the pots and stuffed in between, over the past few months. Went out today to trim them back to flip big pots over them and then cover that with plastic. The layers of hay have meshed with freezing rain and formed a hard shell on the tops of my pots. I'm not sure if that's a good thing or not ? I left it alone though, I saw a green weed growing down in it and thought maybe that's made it's own little micro climate down in there.

Here in north New Jersey we got about a few feet. Wish I would’ve measured to be exact but the snow was at about my knee height and I’m 6’ tall so yeah here’s a picture of the snow blocking in my car last night.

Finally over here, we got close to 2' up in the hills where i am. The drifts are up to 4' around the greenhouse, hopefully all the snow is acting as a good insulator lol.

We dodged a bullet in Central, VA. I was in the 1" ice zone. We were expecting major power outages for days. Luckily we ended up with mostly snow and sleet with around 1/8" ice. Everything is still a sheet of ice, but no one lost their power.

We got 24 inches so far up in massachusetts

We got a foot of snow . School was cancelled. Spent the morning cleaning off the sidewalk and porches. Husband snow blowed the driveway. Pretty normal upstate NY snow storm. Glad nothing worse.
