Are You Tired of Giveaways?

The spirit of giving and growing our knowledge of the vast world of figs is the entire purpose of this community. I appreciate the challenge and the opportunity find yet another variety to fall in love with. Thanks to you and all the others who contribute to teaching all of us that you can never have too many figs! There's always a new one to pique your curiosity.
 
It seems like we have a really competitive group here that's ready for more action.

I'll finalize details for the "game" to give away somewhere in the neighborhood of 25 packages of 15 cuttings to winning members. I can then count the cuttings which remain and see how many other members can receive cuttings during the holiday season.

Sunday, December 14th seems like a good day to look for this game to begin.
 
I'd like to be in on the unknowns. I'm going to skip the rest of the reindeer games as I have plenty of fancy ones this year so someone else can have them. But I'd take unknowns if I can join this contest!
 
I’ll gladly take a few of each to root and distribute any extras that root back here to the group for shipping.

Your proposal is something I was going to make in a future post, but you beat me to the punch.

It’s not always possible to provide cuttings to every interested member every time a donation is made. Personally, I want to give a good number of cuttings to each recipient to “soften” the shipping fees both USPS and UPS are now charging.

If members receiving cuttings are successful in rooting multiples of a variety and are then willing to offer any extra rooted cuttings to those who missed out originally, it would exemplify the altruism that would likely make TorontoJoe jump for joy.

I've never met a fig cutting that I won't try to propagate.

And definitely not tired of drawings/giveaways!
 
What has shocked me so far is that no one has translated the five, made up names for these unknowns. 🤯

Unknown translations
Variety #1: DeAngelo’s Baga Verde = green berry
Variety #2: Frank’s Irma Fraca = Weak Irma?
Variety #3: DeAngelo’s Rubi Escuro = Dark Ruby
Variety #4: Frank’s A Fera = The Beast
Variety #5: Portuguese Profundo Desconhecido = Deep Unknown
 
When I created the names, #2 translated to “weak sister”. This is supposedly a green fig, similar to #1, but was much more susceptible to winter die back.

The translation I got for #5 was “complete unknown” as the owner offered very few details around that tree. This one may be a surprise for anyone who successfully roots it.
