Yeah… I feel the same way about winter. If it’s an option, maybe take up some hydroponics or something to keep you growing this time of year. It really helps me.

To sell, store or root?
To store - Make sure the tree is fully dormant. Non dormant cuttings do not store well.
To sell or to root - Any time of year. If selling just let the buyer know if they are not dormant or not. I rather root non dormant cutting's. They seem to root faster.

Have about 20 rooting right now and about to set some more to root this evening.
But only around seven varieties so far.
Hope the weather holds up next week. I am behind on up potting.

I'll be starting my rooting process somewhere around mid to late January. I am doing 6-7 varieties this time around. Will be making sure I have all my rooting items ready over the next 10-12 days while off work for the holidays.

I have been reading more about people having success rooting in water and am tempted to give it a try… but I also had thoughts of doing more single-node cuttings to multiply my odds of success since I generally only buy 1 cutting of any given variety.

I am determined to get some projects finished.
Cuttings started, greenhouse finished, I need to order a pickup of some items to have hauled away.
Also I will be pruning for some cuttings to send out.
I really need to make this time off count! lol

Does your success rate change much with single node rooting? The only time I've ever done it is when the cutting was already going bad and trying to save the last good node.... It never went well but was likely already too stressed and depleted by that point

Interestingly, the 2 that I tried it with were the extra nodes from longer cuttings and both rooted and grew well this past season (one to 4-5 feet tall and the other to a 7 foot monster single leader)
The main cutting of one rooted just fine but the main cutting of the other ended up dying, so the success was better with the single node.
With an “n” of 2, that isn’t saying much, but it was quite good to see.
I basically settled the 2 single nodes (each in their own cup) into a layer of DE (thinking of using sand this year) that was sitting on top of “regular” potting mix, so you have the pre-rooting media in direct connection to the main media, reducing chance for rot and also preventing the need for a precarious up-pot with dainty roots

Outstanding! I think the DE on mix was a solid decision. So, you buried them just below the soil line?
