lol...maybe...just maybe.I see seedlings in your future.![]()
Yes sir.lol...maybe...just maybe.
I'm not exactly sure at what point to pull a ripe caprifig, for maximum pollen farming.
You wait until they're soft like common?
This one breba is ripe. Am I supposed to inject it into my other figs or what? I don't what to do.This is a 2nd season tree that I rooted springtime last year. It has one fig on it. I guess it's breba. I don't know anything about this variety. Is this fig something I can use for manual caprification?

I was looking at your original post. Is the profici ripe now? This one breba is ripe. Am I supposed to inject it into my other figs or what? I don't what to do.
I was also wondering if I can freeze it.I wish it wasn't too late to take pics. GXY is my first capri. I'm hoping for good things this year.
Does anyone have intel on how long pollen can remain viable? Or methods to preserve it? Vac seal and freeze maybe?
Yes I noticed it was ripe when I was watering just before dark. I did not pick it. I can pick it tomorrow and inject the other figs. I don't know which figs are good caprified. I guess I will inject I-258, Violeta, and EBT. I will figure it out tomorrow.I was looking at your original post. Is the profici ripe now?
If so yes. remove the pollen and pollinate your figs.

For caprification and breeding operations, fig pollen is refrigerated for a few months in the low 40°Fs, vacuum-sealed or with a desiccant.Does anyone have intel on how long pollen can remain viable?
I find most to be better pollinated. Best way to tell which ones you personally like better pollinated.Yes I noticed it was ripe when I was watering just before dark. I did not pick it. Size of the syringe does not matter much. You may just have to fill it quite often if pollinating a lot of figs. If you have extra. My plan is to do like the guy did in this video. The only syringes I have are very small. Maybe it will work.

Is to pollinate a couple of each variety you have and compare them with the ones you did not pollinate.
But you more than likely won't be able to compare them at the same time as pollinated figs seem to ripen faster.
Good luck and remember a little goes a long way.![]()
I have had them ripen a week to two weeks earlier than non-pollinated figs. I think @Bofig has seen them ripen even earlier than that. Could be to do with climate difference’s.Approximately how much sooner can one expect a pollinated fig to ripen vs one that’s not?
