It is great producer.Produces an abundant breba crop that rivals—if not surpasses—the main crop in quality. The brebas, rich with honeyed sweetness, ripen by mid-July, followed by the main crop in mid to late August.
My cutting took forever to root.Figue d' Algerie hasn't spread around much as far as I can tell.
My tree from Aaron has taken a couple years to start growing well. Grafts are slower also. Makes me think its going to be a very tasty variety.
There will still be a few.At the rate we are going, by this time next year there won't be a rare fig left in America
I do know some sellers and collectors that keep some varieties to themselves. At the rate we are going, by this time next year there won't be a rare fig left in America

Love the leaf pattern.Who else is growing Chaari? Mine is fruiting but not sure it will ripen in time. Has leaves that remind me of TNT.View attachment 12347
My tnt was stagnant for awhile but recently shot up to the greenhouse ceiling. Sadly no figs this year. This was one I really searched for last year so I hope it lives up to the hype in my head.Who else is growing Chaari? Mine is fruiting but not sure it will ripen in time. Some collect and sell at high prices, Some collect to give away and spread them around. Others collect to keep them around without the drama. Just sharing with local fig lovers. Many of them not on forums or FB. Have not met one yet that keeps them all to themselves.I do know some sellers and collectors that keep some varieties to themselves.
The only way we have 99.9% of the figs we do is because people share. (Give, sell, trade) In my opinion it is counter intuitive to hoard a variety of fruit because you don't want someone else to have it. But I'm sure some people do. Luckily not many people do that, because there would be so little fruit in the world today if that were the case. Fruit was meant to be spread around. It makes for a better and healthier worldSome collect and sell at high prices, Some collect to give away and spread them around. Others collect to keep them around without the drama.
