I have some seedlings that I did not see figs on for ten years, but we may have been busy with managing the avocado grove and not noticed so I am not sure. Squirrels also are known for eating them all when they are green. I am seeing new seedlings this season, so I can time them. I dug up a few to get them away from the avocado roots, since they would have been cut down by my partner who doesn't understand the fig thing. Obviously the birds are sitting in the avocado trees and pooping the seeds out in the root zone where they are watered. We have a larger amount of female figs than we should, so I'm not sure why, or what is going on but I'm also not complaining.

You may wonder if it is figs or some kind of weed.
All Ficus Carica seedlings start off with single lobe leaves
that don't really look like a fig.

Wow, they look great, I've had some cuttings ive rooted before that put out some single loved leaves sometimes when they are just starting. They have the serrated edge too!

I imagine starting from seed also means less chance of starting with potential disease or pest

Seedlings are clean. And as far as I know. I don’t have Fig mites here. So they should not get any FMV. Just hope some of them produce very tasty figs.

I have these two rooted cuttings. I think they are caprifig and smyrna. I don't know what to do with them. I guess if the caprifig produces figs I can use it to hand pollinate my common figs.

Let them grow. If your Capri produces. Pollinate your common figs. You will like them better.

Yes. But your yard will be filled very quickly.

Losing labels is a real bummer. I’ve got one cutting growing like a champ and the label disappeared. It’s definitely one of 9 varieties

I have a few unknown seedlings. Good thing is.
I know they are seedling's. Now I have to wait to give it a name.
