Your most WANTED fig?

Very good fig, but sadly, wasn't a keeper for me.
May I ask why it wasn’t a keeper? That looks amazing. But I guess if it only gives you 2 figs a year I could see that being an issue. Lol

Likely my next acquisition will be Smith. Although, the photos of Stella above got me thinking twice🤣
Right! I’m crossing all of my fingers that the Stella cutting I have survives now. I was excited for it, now I’m super excited for it. 😂😂

Did I accidentally say it gave me 2 figs a year and somehow forgot about it? ;)

No, mine was fairly productive for that variety, but given that I have a limited space and only want to keep the best of the best, it didn't make the cut. Tasting Dalmatie side by side with Unk Prosciutto and White Madeira #1 quickly put things in perspective.

I really don't need anymore figs now, I've spent quite a bit of money lately of fig trees and the wife is starting to get concerned, Lol. My most wanted however is whatever Adriatic that tastes the best and produces a lot of fruit in our climate here. I don't know what variety that would be. I have been thinking White Madeira #1 but then I noticed one called Mariani Carini for sale on figbid. Seems like a really cool fig tree. I know people have different tastes but does anyone think it tastes as good as White Madeira #1? I am just wondering what Adriatic should be my most wanted.

I don’t really need anymore either. But ordered some more this morning.
When you get to a certain point.
It becomes “What’s one more” :)

For me I’m after Medici 2 and 4. They are hard to find. I will suggest gayet if you can’t find Dalmatie or stella

I have been on the lookout for Vince #3 and Culo di Papa for the last several years. They were introduced by some of our Canadian members. As a short season grower that spikes my interest.

Not so much a matter of “need”. More of a “want” thing 🤓

WM#1 and Angelito are both solid choices.

I’m not familiar with Mariani Carini, but if it’s supposed to be from Carini, I’m surprised…. I know that area and have never seen an Adriatic type anywhere near there. May have been cultivated there though

You might also look at / for Unk. prosciutto (originating from NJ Fig Farm) - I hear it’s just a *touch* below WM#1 but that it tastes pretty amazing and with your long growing season (assuming proper irrigation) it should serve you admirably!

Yes! I don't know why U. Prosciutto didn't immediately come to mind. One of my all time favourite Adriatic types. The mother tree is in NJ.

If Aaron doesn't have in stock it should not be too difficult to find.

Is this the one that takes like three years to fruit? It’s either this or pastiliere and I can’t remember which one it is to be honest.

I think I’d rank Angelito above white madiera #1. It’s more vigorous and takes moisture better. Both great figs and you should have both but if I have to pick one I’d give the edge to Angelito.

It took me 3 years for it to hit its stride.... I don't think that's the case for most growers but, if for whatever reason I lost my U. Prosciutto, I would get it again and wait another 3 years. This fig is worth it for me, it's top shelf and well suited to growing in the north east
