I am finding the 'Blackberries' thread very informative... so I thought I'd start a thread about new varieties everyone is adding to their gardens this year... pictures are encouraged, but not absolutely required... hoping we can all get new ideas and inspiration here.

Let me start.

Berries

Illini Hardy Blackberry
Thorny, very hardy and, reportedly, wild blackberry flavor but sweeter and larger compared to wild blackberries.
Spoken highly of by some Growing Fruit members

Tayberry
A blackberry and red raspberry cross. A lot of great feedback about this one. I've wanted to get it for the past two years, but it's been out of stock until now.
Very excited about this one.

Double Gold Raspberry
I have a few yellows, which the family loves... but this one with its golden pink color is very unique... Excellent reviews... very sweet, apparently, with low acidity... not necessarily what I am looking for, as I love acidity, but my kids love this kind of stuff... besides, these may be fantastic when mixed with other, more tart berries.

Some new vegetable varieties I heard good things about or just caught my attention for whatever reason....

Please let us know your opinions on the tayberry and gold raspberries! I always grow grey zucchini each year. They're really good stuffed. Unfortunately, you will have to deal with squash borers.

Persimons have been on my list for a couple of years... just need to find a good spot for them. Those Terra - Cotta tomatoes look gorgeous!

Will do. I hope to get some harvest even this year, but definitely next year. I've been growing zucchini / summer squash for quite a few years and, luckily, never had to deal with them... hope they never find their way to my backyard...
