Good lord Joe are those recent pics?
You're going to be busy!
I have maybe 10 at the moment. lol
That must be a very special Mt Erna variety. It's so nice to arrange a barter arrangement. That deserves 5 Stars. The pic of the cuttings I took just before I posted.
I won't be rooting those until spring. Those are all Etna's from my big tree that I mass root. Every year I take most of them to my buddy Giovanni who has a very small, family owned garden centre [slash] small engine repair shop near me. He sells them.... I get the family discount on mix and machine repairs.
You know you're a fig fanatic when..... you have, "a cutting fridge"My wife gets so irritated when I use the main fridge ... I had to upgrade the cutting fridge to a large 7 cubic foot Chest fridge this year
Giovanni is 81 and still goes to work every day. These days he mostly operates loading machines and makes deliveries. His son Antonio does most of the heavy lifting and repair work. It's a very cool place. They have a bench just inside the front door where the mature peasani can sit and chat about this and that. Time flies on the benchThat must be a very special Mt Erna variety. Two cutting fridges? Definitely a fig fanatic!HA HA HA..... yep, I have not one but two cutting fridges. Why would you put vegetables in a cutting tray?
Mine is already that size. I am so glad I do not have to protect my trees over winter. The #45 pots I can move. But I really don't want to.You guys are making me feel really good! Last year, I had 176 cuttings in our only fridge (I got one crisper drawer and put the rest on the bottom shelf).
I’ll say you’re a fig fanatic when your collection is too big to fit in a two-car garage. I’m not quite there yet, but it’s close!
Life would be easier if it never got below 25f here I can't go above 20gal pots unless I want my back to explode, and left shoulder to come off. On the bright side, those winters may be how we keep the BFF away?Mine is already that size. I am so glad I do not have to protect my trees over winter. The #45 pots I can move. I believe the cold help with quite a few pests, wish it was just a few more!Life would be easier if it never got below 25f here I can't go above 20gal pots unless I want my back to explode, and left shoulder to come off. On the bright side, those winters may be how we keep the BFF away?
I need a basement. One thing we can not have in the south.(1) when you have an extra fridge for cuttings in the basement (2) you have a greenhouse in your basement. (3) you are plumbing in an automatic irrigation system to take care of the rooted cuttings so trips out of town, don’t trip you up. (4) you bought a solar system to cover all of the electricity your house and greenhouse needs.
As long as you don't go and do something crazy like, put the car in the garage.... you should be fineYou guys are making me feel really good! Last year, I had 176 cuttings in our only fridge (I got one crisper drawer and put the rest on the bottom shelf).
