Wondering what's best soil for our figs?

No idea what's best as that would be a bold claim. But I think a starting point would be something like figgyeds soil for pots. Looking at potted trees he gets some of the best growth imo
 
Gary's Top Pot has been showing good results for me. Expensive if you buy it pre-made, but the recipe can be easily found with a few keystrokes.
 
When you visit laguna hills nursery, The Viberant health of his bushes, and trees at the nursery make it quite clear who's got the best potting soil.
 
Gary talked a lot about growing in sand is better than any organic matter. I have heard not to add sand to what you already have. Maybe the sand is just for pots? I have seen you can root in it alone but I have used coco and perlite alone with success. I will give the sand a try one day.
 
The best mix is what works for you depending on the type of weather you have to deal with. I need a well draining mixture because of the humidity and daily rain. I have received trees from different sources and some stay too wet too long and others dry out too quick. For example, what works in AZ desert won't do well in GA.

I'm sure there are better mixes then others with differing theories on the benefits of each. For potted trees I believe it is extremely important to have a consistent soil mix / potting medium across your collection to have consistent watering
 
I think two things that are just as important as the soil mix are sunlight and heat — probably even more important than having a great soil mix.
 
I actually just posted a video on my fig soil mix. It’s the one I use for all my figs. A mineral soil is better in the long end but that’s more for when you have found those forever figs you are keeping in your collection no matter what. So far I have trees in this mix for 4 seasons now and growing just fine. I think after their 5th season is when I will root prune and add fresh soil mix to freshen things up.
