Wish Sandwich

This recipe is from my dad when my brother and I were kids.

-2 slices bread of choice
-mayonnaise
-yellow mustard

Apply mayo and mustard to one side of each slice of bread. Press the slices together, making sure the mayonnaise and mustard are on the inside. Proceed to eat--and wish you had some meat.

Serves 1

We Mexicans have our versions of this as well. Tortilla and a swipe of salsa
Butter and salt on a tortilla are acceptable as well.

Broken pasta anyone? I lived off noodles for awhile. Nothing wrong with where ya from. Or how rich or poor. We all been thru things and came here together for the love of figs. Happy to be part of it.

Our Russian version on this was a slice of dark rye bread, preferably a heel, rubbed with fresh clove of garlic and sprinkled with salt.

The funny thing is, sometimes I get a hunkering for it even now... like a smell of childhood, when joys were simpler and your imagination could conjure magic castles out of a card box
