This is the base of my Olympian tree. Normally, I would just cut all of this out. Now, being a card-carrying member of this forum, I’m going to try an air layer some or all of these. It is all completely unlignified new growth. When should I do it? End of the season or earlier?

@shevitz I'm glad to hear your card arrived in the mail. 
I'd say you're ready as soon as they're big enough to get the vessel around them and strong enough that they won't break. You have a longer season so maybe worth waiting a few weeks for them to toughen up a bit.
Do remember, if they're far enough from the main trunk... you probably don't need to layer them. They will generally just root below ground and you can dig them up.

It can damage them if you do it too soon. No harm in waiting a few weeks. The season is young.

I was also looking for an economical way to get waterproof stickers. I was thinking I could ask at nurseries and greenhouses where figs are sold if I could stick them to the pots. Since we’re not competition I would think they’d be cool about it.

Any one of those long enough you can set the 1G pot or tree pot that’s cut open around one of those suckers. Easy AL.
