What’s your theory on these

That is insane!
I have never heard of one trying to tear into a roof like that...maybe they store food in the attic? lol
That is one crazy animal, curiosity killed the coon is what the saying should be.

It happens all the time here. It happened at my mothers place. They're not after food (I mean they would be if it was in there). With attics and garages they want a safe, warm-ish place to use a den and raise young. They tear shingles off the roof and tear right through the plywood. If they're inside, typically the pest removal places will seal all but one exit and place a trap at the exit so the only way out is into the trap. It's not a cheap service.

Best prevention is generally to make it less easy for them to get in so they move on. Keeping trees and antennas away from the house so it's tougher to climb up etc.

There are just so many that the pressure is non-stop. And they just seem to be getting smarter.

Oh my God I am really speechless about the first video that is so many raccoons all in the same trap. I thought I read that those are Toronto raccoons, wow Joe you really do have a lot of raccoons in Toronto. As to the second video that looks like some serious ridge work repair on that roof. You hate to see a roof get taken out like that. It's never the same afterwards. I don't believe I would have released that raccoon back into the same environment. That boy would have been scheduled for rehoming somewhere far away. Amazing videos Teresa.
