What did you eat today that you grew?

Fiddleheads grow up near Algonquin Park where my father in law is. I'd never heard of them until I was up there years ago and they wanted to stop and pick some. It was a cultural first for me. At first I didn't know what to make of eating what I saw as a "fern". But, I liked them and still do!

I'm also thrilled that the wooded area there is also full of Chanterelles and Oyster mushrooms. They grow like crazy there. If the weather is right we can fill bushels... This year, I want to pack them in olive oil like we traditionally do with porcini

Speaking of "ramping up" ...."Ramps" are and amazing wild allium here. I have a few spots where I find them wild, but I've not been able to cultivate them. They don't seem to like life in captivity.... but if you know what you're looking for, here you can find them growing in a few city parks.....I just avoid the parks that allow dogs :)

I might eat this today @ one of the most beautiful tomatoes I have raised, a Perfect Rogue - Perfectly vine ripened. It looks to be close to 1lb. The plants didnt set many, having flowered from a window during frosts but the few are really good sized... ill weigh in later. The photo makes them appear smaller (i was almost 1/2 lb off it was 6.8 Oz lol)

Native Sun and Independence day have been a treat. They are some of the better early tomatoes ive had ... I got very behind in the yard again and so im super happy to get tomatoes and finally some earlies with some flavor and sweetness ... all of my early girls and dolls have been flavorless and maybe bad seed batches. These are much better snd sweet if you let them soften a little

They're on the smaller size but grown from 3 gallon too... but most importantly they are good👍

Well while out working in the garden, I picked one strawberry, and a handfull of currents and a few pieces of Tatsoi. So I basically grazed. I think my greens are going to bolt, it's 90 today. Tonight I have a big bunch of kale and tatsoi to steam . I'm waiting on other things to grow.

Insane how some of you are already eating berries and tomatoes... my earliest, haskaps, are probably still 4 weeks away... my currants are still blooming...

I often graze for breakfast and lunch. Today included, blueberry grapes, Golden Berry, Blueberries, and Calomondin. For dinner, to go with the Costco Chicken, I had some Green onion, Thai Peppers, and Haas Avocado from the garden.

I have no idea where all of you are coming from. It was in the 30s two weeks ago here all plants in the garden are just starts. Cold weather stuff hasn’t started taking off yet here I could eat collard greens that overwintered from last year, but that’s about it.

I got some indigo treat haskap berries yesterday! The very first berries form my garden! I'm surprise that you are so far behind. Do you have late varieties?
