Welcome... everyone!

Thank you!

Just a little intro, my name is Ray while lots of people call me RayRay or Ray Boy. Live outside of Philly in a area known as the Lehigh Valley where there is a good solid backyard fig population. Also visit Philly quite a bit where my brother lives, another area with great backyard figs. IDK what it is but I swear I have somekind of internal antenna sniffing out fig tree's that are near me.

Thank you everyone for the "welcomes"

What a great backstory! I’m with you on backyard figs. They’ve been here for a long time, and were kept because they’re good!

I grew up where my one grandmother would make fig jam and lot's of fig infused pastries and real fig newtons--fig newtons were a favorite and a staple in our house. As an adult I was lucky to be surrounded by fig tree's up and down the block, my neighborhood was mostly Portuguese. We also have a large Middle Eastern population, actually not that far away is a town named Roseto which happened to be the only town/burough in the United States that was 100% Italian at one time, of course it's a small town though.

Up until a couple of years ago, I only thought there were two types of figs, a white fig or a dark fig, I had no clue that a google search was going to lead me down to hours and hours of reading lol. One can google "blacktop driveways" and end up reading about Elvis Presley eating peanut butter and jelly sandwiches.

Yesterday was my birthday and I was able to get a Crozes figlet, really looking forward to it! It was the first fig tree I ever purchased, I've gotten some cuttings, but never a tree before...well...besides what has been gifted to me by friends.

Happy birthday! 🥳

Very cool Ray! Cuccidati We’re the Sicilian fig cookie of choice at my house.

I look forward to hearing more about what figs you’re growing.
