Watering questions

This winter’s cuttings are now in 5 gallon pots & I’m getting ready to set up an automatic watering system. I’ve got a few questions about watering container figs in general:
- Is it better to try for consistent soil moisture by watering everyday, or do a deep watering every few days?
- Any consideration as to water temperature? We are on a deep well, so water is cold, but I need to run a long length of hose to get to the figs, so water in the hose can heat up. Is too cold or too hot a problem? Should I try to ameliorate the issue by either watering early in the day (if hot is bad) or at the height of the day (if cold is bad)?
- Will mulching over the drip emitters help with moisture retention?
Any insights appreciated!

Consistent daily drip, you may need to water more than once a day. Depends on gph your drip is. Mulch helps retain moisture, I’d use it regardless. Also helps if the water is hot or cold it doesn’t hit the rootball right away.

Daily. You want to give every reason for them to succeed. They just got up-potted and still getting established. Outside exposure to the elements and as leafs grow, open air ..evaporation, its gonna be a whole diff world for them to try to make it. Water should not be a reason they dont make it.
