There are a few members of the fig community. Buying dried figs to grow out the seedlings.
The greek figs are carica just as the Califonia dried figs.
But the Shirazi figs from Iran are not carica. You can find them on amazon or other online stores.
Grown and dried in Iran but packaged in other countries a lot of times. The one I bought https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0F3K3DHB4?ref_=ppx_hzsearch_conn_dt_b_fed_asin_title_2&th=1
Is packaged in China.
They have very small leaves that are rough and rarely fingered. But sometimes you we get a seedling that seems to not be true.
Meaning some other ficus pollen was involed.
Another interesting dried fig. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07NLDZJ71?ref_=ppx_hzsearch_conn_dt_b_fed_asin_title_3&th=1
These seem to be from a lot of different types of Afghan figs. Good taste and seedlings I sprouted have that Ice Crystal look.
It is fun to sprout them out and see what kind of leaves you get from them. It will also add something new to the "pool" for those with the wasp or could be a good addition to those wanting to breed? Or if you just wanting something different to grow.

I will, right now I'm eating the ones from Turkey.
Not bad, small...some very soft and some more on the dry side.
Looking forward to trying the others.
Wife and I ate quite a few of the ones from India today. Not as good as the ones I got from Afghanistan that were flat and very tasty. But interested to see what sprouts up. I will be planting some seeds this weekend. :)
