Verdolino dilemma

I’ve been growing Verdolino for a few seasons now and have run into a bit of a dilemma.  Here are the photos of the figs from last season:

Has anyone growing Verdolino experienced this variability?  This can’t be the same variety, right?  In 6 years growing figs, I have never mislabeled a tree but this might be a first. If it is indeed mislabeled, I have no idea where my Verdolino went and I also have no idea what variety this tree is lol.  Any thoughts?
 
Wow Evan, the last year photos look good, true to type 
But I've never seen a fig start green and go to being a dark fig.

I know this sounds corny...but are you positive it's the same tree as last year?

I think at this point, it's safe to say it's mislabeled.  It's a bummer because now I can't find my Verdolino.  On the bright side, this mystery variety is really good but I have no idea what it is.

maybe Byblos??

Did any of your trees produce figs that looked similar to Verdolino this year or did you get rid of any trees during the off-season? The mystery fig does look really good though.

Unfortunately, no.  None of my trees that have fruited this year have resembled Verdolino, which is odd.  I'm at a loss.

This is a very good guess but I grew my Verdolino from a single cutting that did not contain any grafts.

I have never owned Celeste so I do not believe it's Celeste.  Also, isn't Celeste a sugar fig?  This one had very nice berry tones.
 
@"Evan"#217 After you eliminate all the probabilities whatever is left is the truth. Lol whatever that means are you missing any other varieties? That would make @"DCallahan"#71 mystery trade a likely possibility. Your possible Verdolino was a picture perfect calendar girl fig. I certainly hope you haven't lost it.
 
Yeah, something had to happen with your labels, that sucks!

Could be Byblos, looks very similar to your other pictures of it. Are you missing Byblos?

To be honest, I thought my Byblos died lol.  I don't even know anymore.  Only thing I can do is mark it as an unknown.

That would be crazy but I'm leaning towards I just goofed and mislabled it.

Oh no! I wonder if it was the Verdolino that died instead? 😬
 
@"JMF75"#5  - I wanted to think a sport as well... but so different....I had to go back and forth.... I'm struggling to find any similarity....  This is not like @"DCallahan"#71 's buttock Prosciutto... it really looks like a different fig altogether... 

I cannot stress how much, multiple embossed metal tags have eliminated any mislabelling.... 

Let me add to the metal tags. A good way to secure them.... Stainless steel fasteners

Our retained fig counsel  @"BackwoodsSouthernLawyer"#42  recommended these some time ago and I've never looked back. This lawyer knows his plant labels. :)
 
I definitely need to do better on multiple labeling, I write on the pots as well as metal tags, but sometimes I change pots and forget about changing the name. lol
At least the metal tag lets me know.  :blush:
