Too much rain?

The next few days, were planning on getting 3-4 inches of rain, along with temps dropping into the 50's and 60's. I have 4 potted figs, garden soil mixed with perilite, and im worried they will develop root rot. Any recommendations? Should i put them in the garage with no sun? Chance it? Thank you!
 
I doubt it, long as it's well draining and outside where the leaves can help burn off the water...they'll be good.
Mine sit out through storms all the time. :)

I agree with @ktrain

I would leave them out as long as they drain ok and have leaves to help transpire the water (and the pots isn’t huge compared to the rootball). If you’re worried your soil isn’t well draining, I would amend the soil so it does drain rather than shuffle all season long.
 
Im not sure if it drains well or not to be honest...im brand new to this fig game. Theyre new cuttings so not many leaves. I think ill move them inside when it rains just to be safe.

Sounds like a good idea to move them then, at least until they're a little bigger and filled out.
 
It's not like you have figs ripening (I'm assuming) So no real need to move them.

If you used mix that is made to be potting mix then your drainage will be fine.

Also consider how much water that really is. Forgive me as my brain is metric so my calculations may be rough

16 inch pot = 201 sq inch.

Over that area 1 inch of rain represents roughly 0.87 gallons per inch. So in total about 2.6 gallons of water for three inches. That a lot of rain for sure.... but over a few days, that should be no problem for a fig tree.

I would lean towards covering the pots with plastic before I physically moved my trees....

Theyre small enough that i moved them under my deck. I figured theyll get more sun under the deck than in the garage, and limited amount of rain.

The soil is a mix of leftovers i had. Approximately: 30% Stagreen garden soil, 30%miracle grow potting soil, some 10% earth worm castings, and about A bag and a half(small bags from walmart) of 30%perilite. The soil looked good when i made it, light and loamy. But ive watered them everyday since transplanted and bought one of those moisture/ph/light meter gadgets today. When i measured the soil it was clear into the 'wet' mark.

The yellow long neck in the ground isnt doing the greatest either...and i stopped watering it a few days ago(2 weeks in the ground, i was watering it every day), meter said wet on it also.

How accurate is the meter? I have no idea, but it did read different on a small pot of oregano im trying to grow.
