This is ridiculous!

I gave up. My back is killing me. I guess I'll get an early start in the morning and reassess.
I assume you don't have one of these... Ego the White Sh*t Whacker... :) good for your back and general sanity... I kind of have fun using it... :) Oh, and my dog loved getting snowed on ....

I do! Well.... sort of.... I have a single stage Toro. It's not bad but when the snow is this heavy it's still pretty tough. Multiple passes and back and forth. Last two winters I pulled it out of storage and didn't use it. This past week it's getting a workout.

Yeah, you need a two-stage for this snow. I haven't used mine for three years until now.... Usually a leaf blower and/or a snow showel is all I use, but it got serious this time...

It wasn't easy but I'm really glad I had it today. Started on the first pull. I was pretty happy about that.
One of my neighbors uses an old gasser and I often see him struggle... and I keep thinking how much I love my electric blower, which starts with a press of a button... but it sucks when batteries die on you in the middle of a job. I have two spares though, so usually not a problem, though today I ran out of juice on main and spares and had to wait for an hour while they re-charge.

Wow! I didn't know there was a battery operated two stage. That's cool. My Toro is gas and it runs well.... just doesn't have the umph to move anything remotely wet... or the big snow banks the city leaves at the end of my driveway. In the second picture that's my kid breaking up the bank after the plough so I could chew it with the Toro

My Ego is a beast. It can easily throw snow 25-30 feet if I want to. It can clear my plowed in driveway in 8-10 minutes. Ice, dense snow, wet snow, big chunks - no problem. I love it. I wish I bought the model that came with two 10amp batteries, but it was never in stock when I was shopping for one, and I was lucky to get the one with two 7.5 amp batteries in Niagara Falls... all stores in GTA were sold out... that was right after Covid. When some of my batteries go bad, I'll replace two with 10 amp ones. My other neighbor has a two stage gasser, I think it's a Toro. It's a beast too... probably more of a beast than mine, but I am into electric tools... the only gas tool I own is Stihl leaf vacuum/shredder. Love it, but I wish it was battery-operated.... I think they now have a battery model.

I forgot to cover mine a few days back, busy with newborn baby .. first time ever my kale has been killed by frost 😭 it was about 4ft tall stalk (Dino kale)
Congratulations on the new baby. That's the kind of news I love to get to share. Sorry about the kale, but I am ecstatic about your new baby.

Meanwhile a fig grower in Massachusetts is keeping faith & anxiously waiting…
Come spring, potted fig trees line up part of the driveway and some of the brick walkway.

Oh… the pride of Canadian manufacturing is taking a break after back to back days of snow shoveling: two stage Ariens… the best.

Curious to see how those in ground trees look when the snow is gone.

I am trying not to torture myself by keeping my mind off of those in ground trees… you may recall, Joe, some of those trees were put in the ground when they were merely 7 months old 🙈
As long as they send new shoots, I would be very happy.

@Vitooch1 - How's the snow looking up by you?
Joe it’s not good down here lol!! We almost don’t know where to put our snow. Snow has reached 6ft over the lawn. We’re literally throwing snow over 6ft, If we get another dump of snow it’s not gonna be good but at the same time I love to see this type of weather it brings back the good old days.

That's nuts! Yeah... I'm hoping this melts sooner than later.

The snow insulates fairly well. I'd say everything below ground should be very safe.... Probably better than if you didn't have the snow at the same temperatures

Congratulations on the new baby. That's the kind of news I love to get to share. Sorry about the kale, but I am ecstatic about your new baby.
Thank you so much! Excited to get to share the garden and my trees with her soon haha .. kale already starting again indoors :)

Congratulations are in order!
My little girl just turned 10 this year, so she was 9 last summer and she loved spending time in between the fig trees, and she would ask me to quiz her about the different names & flavors
(well, she mostly loved picking figs before her brothers beat her to them…. 😆).
Congratulations Brian!
