Think it’s cold now? Just wait

These are the types of winters we had 20 and 30 years ago in central Virginia. Its normal to be this cold in January and February. Mid January to early February is typically the coldest time of winter. The last 5-10 years we have had very mild winters and that causes trees to wake up too early in March, and then many of them get hit again with a cold blast in April killing the flowers. Better to have a real winter which keeps trees dormant longer so they wake up more naturally.

Always one week in january my area gets killed with cold. But this does reming me of the 90s winters with the amount of snow we have had.

Definitely true - my friends and I used to play ice hockey on a local lake in the 90s and go knee boarding while being towed behind trucks in the streets most Winters. Haven’t really had Winter like that until this this week with the cold and snow.
