The figbid rabbit hole....

Not growing it, but hope to get it one day. Simongrow on OF was the one who really built interest in it as a very sweet fig. There isn’t a lot of background information on it, and the source seems to be unknown to my knowledge. I believe it is wondered if it is the same as Pasquale or Vernino.

Hey guys. Been a minute.

I took a gamble on it a couple years back and it has rewarded me with tasty, complex flavors. I shared some insight on a long thread in the other forum a while back. I didn't plan on pruning my tree until I recently received some direct requests for trades and sales. I didn't want to set a price as i had nothing specific in mind so I placed them on auction with no reserve to let the market provide a guage.

A member of the other forum and friend of mine has grown Pasquale and Vernino. He compared the leaf and fig characteristics and he says they are not alike.

I'm curious to know of anyone else is growing it as well.

LOL I'm not growing it, but now you have my full attention. Looks like a winner.

Figbid is dangerous to the weak willed....lol
Or maybe just the severely addicted.

Years ago I was buying lots of stuff because I was impatient and didn't want to wait for rooting.
And...I would only buy from certain people.
But at a certain point and number of trees, just had to slow my roll. lol

I've been chasing this on for a while but the market price has been way out of my budget. Eventually it will get down to more obtainable price.

Not hating on the fig, its probably better in other zones, just not for me.

I had it and it was ok not my best fig. It was so average that I sold the cuttings last season for $2 each lol anded up selling the mother tree as bareroot for a $100

Do you think this one ripens before, around or after a Black Madeira type ? Thanks for sharing your experience with it.

Please keep us in the loop and yes, others growing it….. please share your feedback

I first tasted this one not long ago when Simon brought it to a mango tasting here in So Cal. It was excellent and beat Angelito by several miles. And this is just a personal opinion, like Angelito, S33 is not worth a triple-digit price per cutting.
Would you know if the one you tried was caprified?

Looks like you were selling a year too early! Hype and money train seems to be rolling in 2025.

Ok somebody has gotta have some photos for us to drool over!

@2Angels - This is not my picture and it's not from an active sale listing....
