Tell me what you know about growing currants

I've grown both White Imperiel and Red Lake Currant bushes from little cuttings. It has taken them about 4 years to give me fruit. The white, gave me fruit, not much, but fruit, this past year, and the Red has not yet.
I'm ok with that. I have patience. I know when I'm growing any fruit out from a cutting It's going to take more time .

I gifted some currant cuttings to a friend, who has watched videos. In one of the videos it told her that a Currant will only live 10 years.

I thought Currants were long lived ? Like over 20. I'm pretty sure I'm right, but as I would like to grow even more varieties, I'd like to know what you all know.

Thank you !!

Reds, Pinks, and white are tasty but all black currants taste like a skunk fruit 😂

The white grows slow for me and keeps dying but pink and blacks grow fast as could be. Some have been 5 or more years with no slow downs. Some say they need shade but full sun helps them succeed they just lose leaves in the high temps but we stay below the threshold here they don’t suffer much.

I think long lived is they spread and eventually will die out in the center rather than complete death
