T &H Peat, any thoughts?

I picked up a couple bales from my local supply company. $27 a 3.8cuft bale.
It looks like really good stuff. I got the TH1 blend
Medium was packed dry, bale bag was pretty thick.
The material came out really nice, it was compacted but broke up readily and wasn't clumpy.
I'm looking forward to getting some cuttings and Uppotting done with this material.
There are a couple neat videos on the website of peat harvesting and production lines.

From what I've heard, peat harvesting is remarkably sustainable. (To the extent you care about that, about which I have no comment)

The ratio of peat to perlite isn’t correct. I would add more perlite, mycorrhizae, wetting agent and limestone. So I’m going with BX.
It's almost impossible to find a commercial mix that has the amount of Perlite in it that most of us use.

This mix is within 2 percent of Bx on the perlite.

It's ph balanced so why more limestone?

I'd love for someone to explain to me why Myco is so important in a mix that's almost devoid of nutrients

For an extra 5.00 I'd stick with Promix, don't really like vermiculite in my mix
It is ground finer and "feels " like it holds more moisture, maybe that feel comes from the Vermiculite.
Overall I'm liking it after I mix in the same amount of Perlite that I add to Promix BX.
This TH does come out of the bale better, not clumpy like Promix and has less sticks and such.
I'd like to check out the other mix my supplier has called P15, it has no vermiculite and 15 percent Perlite.

Presumably they help once nutrients are added.

Ya, so is it beneficial to have in the mix while rooting? or is better to introduce later when there is organic matter to breakdown and convey those nutrients to the tree?
I only add myco later after roots and fertilization. I have been using Great White this season which also has “beneficial” bacterias. I don’t know if it actually does anything, but it hasn’t hurt anything either. I paid 40 bucks for 8 oz and it should last me a long time as a hobbyist at 1/2 tsp/gal.

I think a lot this carries over from the cannabis industry. Soiless mediums, synthetic ferts, indoor grows and myco sounds exactly like what we are doing with fig cuttings. But for all I know, I kill everything in the Great White when I mix it with my Jack’s 20-20-20 and cal/mag, haha!
