Storing pollen?

I got curious on Mike’s other thread but thought this would be the best place to ask.

I was reading that pollen can be stored for quite some time frozen. Has anyone done this with fig pollen?

I was thinking it would be cool if the pollen could be there and ready when you need it.

I don’t believe pollen is restricted for international shipping. Before I started growing it myself I bought bronze fennel pollen (ingredient in many of my cured meats) from both Italy and California. It’s classified as a spice. It costs an arm and a leg but openly declared and no issues.

I wonder how many grams of pollen each one will produce? I may be rich very soon. 🤣

It really has been my hope that this section would help broaden the hobby... I think there's something to this... it really opens a world of possibilities... for something that can be sent in a greeting card for the cost of a postage stamp.

Do you have any baselines on how many figs you could pollenate with the pollen from one fig?

Ever since people started to get into pollinating figs. I see so many starting to research, Wanting to breed. I thought it would stop after the whole covid thing. But seems it is still growing. This is exciting times. Maybe the next Condit will come from this surge? Either way. I am loving seeing this trend. As far as how many figs can you pollinate with one profichi? Really depends on the profichi/variety. Also depends on method used. But most would only need one ore two. Than other's like Charles may need 100.
