South Anna butternut squash

I love dates, they are delicious, i would like to plant a date palm.

Squash soup is very rich and tasty its a nice cold weather dish
I didnt get dates at first but it has above average sweetness for squash... Honeynut being the only sweeter but one site described Honeyboat as being that sweetest squash in existence...

Regarding Candystick the first day I got a note that was date-like.. I sometimes put dates in my pancakes, fairly regularly.. and its much different .. its not intensely sweet like dates but really its own category .. and so a flavor that is date-like flavor ... or maybe date flavored potato ... really awesome on its own..

I cant wait to taste Honeyboat.. one I got from the grocer is possibly a Honeyboat. I had seeds come in for Honeyboat and Sugarloaf on the way too...

.. a few other strains are out that i want to try such as Zeppelin, the bush habit plant bred by Cornell and maybe ill plant a bunch of the yellow Hybrid I found... but i want to trial several varieties of winter squash... so much space lol

my first green delicata a first bite was like yucca no sweetness but it was sweeter after cooling ... the longer ones that maybe Zeppelin , i suspect anyhow, were a notch or two sweeter and perfect texture

Maybe worth its own thread! Its really worth trying this variety if you havent especially cool that they can store for a few months ... dont miss out on Honeynut too. My favorite so far and far better than Butternut as a stand alone dessert-like squash...

The greener or Yellow striped Delicata
Mild but really good and this one was lightly sweet right after roasting it. This one would work well in various recipes for sure

Honeynut is pure Dessert..only a larger size would make it better lol

Honey nut sounds good. I may have to get that one, too.

I have a bunch of seeds from that one@ store bought ... but i found two larger sized ones... these also were mostly tiny sized in the store, around 1/2 lb..

Two grocery locations each only displayed one larger one and so I guess they grow variably but eventually they can be genetically isolated for larger size and or crossed with larger squash such as Anna...The one I cooked from the photo is of a Medium sized one..The label says Honeynut on all of them..

there is supposed to be an improved one that is smaller from Cornells program called Brulee'... and ive been reading about Butter Baby... a little bit larger one with some other differences... and Honey Baby* too..the description says it is a semi bush form

also bought me a packet of Honeynut to make sure I get some growing true ..i do not think they readily cross with most of the popular store varieties, besides the regular Butternut

Id be curious for the sake of crossing/naturalizing... if anyone has compared different Butternuts ... Waltham are the standard for General purpose but I didnt realize there were so many...and lots of newer crosses...

Anna crossed with Seminole makes alot of pumpkins and roots along the ground if allowed... one report said 50 fruits approx from two vines that barely flinch at hot temps, and resistant to most things and so the work and seeds are very appreciated...

I am on my last one already, so looking forward to planting more.
And all the others we have discussed.
I've almost gotten all the seeds I've ordered.
